It is very fashionable at the moment to say that the Canary Islands need to move away from mass tourism and towards higher-value niches such as conference and cultural tourism. The sun sea and sand tourism model has served the island well since the 1960s. We see no reason why it won't be bringing is millions of happy tourists in another sixty years time.
This is not an argument for complacency, or a criticism of niche tourism, but a call for the Canary Islands to be proud of their most successful industry. We need to be proud of our islands and work to make them the best sun, sea and sand destination on the market. Niche tourism is the gravy, but mass tourism is our meat and potatoes.
Tourists love the Canary Islands and want to come back

Our most important future visitors are those that have already come to the islands and enjoyed themselves. Not only are they likely to return, but they are also likely to recommend the islands to their friends, co-workers and families.
